CLK55

If you're a CLK55 owner, you might already know that this car eats motor mounts, especially the left one. The M113 engine in the C208 chassis produces 376 ft lbs. of torque, and remembering Newton’s Laws, if you are exerting 376 ft lbs. of torque on the driveshaft then there must be an equal torque in the opposite direction to restrain the engine.

Life, I’ve come to realize, is a series of moments - fleeting, yet profound snapshots that shape who we are and how we remember our journey. Recently, I’ve experienced two such moments that have left an indelible mark on my heart. First, the wedding of my son, the first of my children to tie the knot. It was one of the happiest and most joyous events of my life, filled with laughter, love, and the...

1994 E320 Cabriolet

My New Year’s Resolution was to get all my cars working. I really haven’t gotten there yet, but I tackled a few that I had been putting off. One was a 1994 Mercedes E320 cabriolet with ASR (Acceleration Skid Control) whose engine would not run above idle. I had purchased it this way, and probably paid too much for it, partially because of sentimentality – it had been owned by the person, my next...

Abel Beck - 1988 560SL

Abel was born in southern California (Temecula, Camp Pendleton, a military base) but grew up in a small town outside of Oklahoma City (OKC). He has lived in Atlanta for almost nine years. Abel is 38 and is partnered with Austin, who is also an MBCA member! He actually "slid into his DMs" (direct messages) when he bought his Mercedes to get him to join MBCA selfishly so that he could meet him. He...

My New Year’s Resolution was to get all my cars working. This meant getting around to working on some cars that I had set aside due to the nature of their issues. What I found on a couple of them was quite unusual and I thought this one was worth sharing.

Rusty Duncan

Spring has finally arrived, bringing with it some of the best driving weather of the year! For those of us with convertibles—like my 1978 450SL and 2007 CLK 63—this is the season we’ve been waiting for. There’s nothing quite like hitting the road with the top down, enjoying the open air and the incredible roads that Georgia has to offer.

MBCAEF would like to work with local chapters to bring the enthusiasm we have for Mercedes-Benz to local automotive vocational high schools and colleges. To that end we have set aside $500 each for the first ten chapters who agree to establish a long-term relationship with their local automotive vocational high school or college.

I’m going to cover a trivial issue, though it didn’t seem so trivial when it happened to me while driving the 1992 300CE-24 about 60 in the left lane of I95 through Jacksonville. I felt a thunk in the throttle and then suddenly had no throttle control. The engine went to idle and stayed there no matter what I did with the gas pedal. I was able to get into the emergency lane on the Trout River...
