AZALEA TRAILS DRIVE, 3/29/25
On Saturday, March 29, 21 members participated in the Azalea Trails Drive to Tyler, Texas to see the beautiful azaleas along a well-marked route in Tyler. Although the skies were cloudy at 9am at the QT in Greenville where everyone gathered, the weather did not disappoint. The day turned out to be beautiful and perfect for the drive. After making a stop at the railroad depot in Mineola, TX to see the museum there and watch the Amtrak train arrive and depart, the 9 Mercedes traveled on to Tyler where, at 11:30am, we gathered at the historical Goodman-LeGrand mansion to distribute brochures and maps of the trails through the city. Each Mercedes then went on the trails at its own pace to tour the beautiful gardens and streets lined with azaleas, although while there some stayed behind to first tour the mansion which was a beautiful exhibit of life in the Victorian years. Pyron Gardens on Dobbs Street in Tyler was an exceptional place to see many different colors and types of azaleas. Many of the residential streets on the tour had homes of all sizes and styles displaying more beautiful azaleas. At 1:30pm, 19 members met again to enjoy lunch at The Jalapeño Tree for great Mexican food and lots of visiting and fellowship. Following the lunch, everyone went their separate ways to return to the Dallas area.
